A genuine 1964 Epiphone Rivoli, built at the Gibson-owned Kalamazoo factory during the height of the British Invasion. This was the bass of choice for a generation of UK players — Chas Chandler of the Animals, Paul Samwell-Smith of the Yardbirds — and the timing and features here point to a bass most likely brought into the UK through Epiphone's period distributor, Rosetti, rather than sold direct in the US.
Single large humbucking pickup, volume and tone controls, two-way bass/baritone switch. All original as far as we can tell, right down to the tortoiseshell-style pickguard. Sunburst finish with honest, consistent wear for a bass pushing sixty years old — no major repairs in its lifetime, and the frets are still in good shape. Currently set up with 45-90 flatwounds, which suits this bass down to the ground.
Beautiful deep subby wooden tone with full range engaged via the push button - switching between tenor/ baritone mode. Available to demo in-store, this bass must be played to be appreciated.
