The Heritage of a Classic The Dobro 33D is a definitive piece of American instrument history, built by OMI (Original Musical Instrument Co.) in California prior to the Gibson acquisition. This round-neck model features a chrome-plated brass body decorated with the traditional etched French foliage design. It represents a highly regarded era of production, valued by players for its solid build quality and historical authenticity.
Sound and Construction Constructed with a 10.5-inch biscuit-bridge resonator cone, the brass body provides a distinct tonal profile characterized by a sharp initial attack, clear string definition, and an open, lingering sustain. Unlike wood-bodied resonators, the metal chassis offers natural acoustic projection and a bright, metallic voice that cuts through a mix without forcing the player to over-play. It is highly responsive to both fingerstyle and slide techniques.
Condition and Playability This instrument features a stable maple neck and a clean rosewood fretboard, offering a balanced and predictable action suitable for traditional delta blues, bluegrass, or slide work. It has been thoroughly inspected and set up to ensure proper cone seating and intonation.
No case included, Case options available (sold separately).
